ABOUT ME

I love nature and building things

Since I was a kid I would spend my days hiking the creek beds and exploring the forest, flipping over rocks and logs looking for small critters. Catching crayfish and finding herptiles was always a win for me. As much fun as this always was, I was also very inquisitive of how things worked. My Dad and Grandparents made a living as a Automotive and Aerospace Technicians and this provided me with the ability to take lots of spare parts and controllers apart and put them back together.

In the years before I attended my university, I struggled to find a field that I wanted to study. I didn't quite know what I wanted to do before college and I definitely did not know while attending. I originally started my college career as a Mechanical Engineer as much as I enjoyed math and learning to use Autocad I wanted to know how the life around me worked more. I eventually switched my career track to become a Biologist and eventually earned my degree in Conservation Biology.

For the last 4 years, I have been working in the Biology field while always staying active in teaching myself new technology. In my free time I often find myself playing with computers, trying to build robots, or seeing what I can build with a raspberry pi. I knew about 2 years ago when most of my history on you-tube was mostly tech channels and seeing people code their own projects. I knew then that I wanted to begin coding and optimizing my own projects in my life.

One of my first experiences with code was in college. I had a first year Intro to programing class that had us working with c#. The next bit of experience did not happen until a few years after that.

The Raspberry pi, when I bought my first raspberry pi I had no idea what I was getting my self into. I immediately started looking at documentation and videos, I had no idea what I really wanted to do with it. So I went big and bought a large enough SD Card so I could partition it and have several systems on it.

I ran Kodi, an open source Home Theater where I kept all of my digital movies and T.V. shows. Retro Pi so I could play all of the old school nintendo games. The third partition I left for Raspbian, a free operating system so I could still use it a and actual computer writing documents and browsing the web.

I still have that raspberry pi and several more one that lets me control my 3D printer from my desktop and also a magic mirror near my entry way. Now with my new knowledge from Nashville Software School I hope to write my own applications and code my own solutions for projects and work.
